Lonely Astromen (the return home)

from a la lone by Mortal Boy

/

about

in 2003 I wrote a song called "lonely astromen" it's on YouTube somewhere people seem to like it. I dont as the recording itself was shite and have improved so much over the years

well the premise of that song was a group of astronauts tired and disappointed with mankind, society, and its direction. So they embark on a journey through the cosmos to find a new habitable planet and potential life. but subsequently lost contact, disappeared completely and were adrift in space indefinitely.

I revisited this premise with this final new track to my upcoming LP "astromance" in where after 16 years lost and radio silent our astromen mysteriously have returned home. this is their story.

lyrics

wake up major tom
look down below
we have arrived home again
it looks the same but are we the same
I think not
should we tell them what we saw ?
I don't think they can fathom it
hikers of the future lift me off
destination unknown and beyond
testimony of discovery
evidence of new life and
intelligence, new physics, a better understanding
but should we tell them what we saw?
witnessing your leader in charge
the wars you start, the planet you destroyed. we have decided to not engage. I am never coming home again.
